Open Sessions in DIMDIM

MHunter
Moira Hunter
in DimDim

After moderating live sessions for guest speakers, Moira held three open sessions for participants in Week 4.   During each two-hour session,  participants dropped in to discover the features of this web-based open source virtual classroom which is still in its Alpha version.

Fun was certainly had by some as deskstop sharing and application sharing were given a whizz and songs were sung with the beautiful audio where four people can speak together at the same time.

Please leave your comments below and we're all looking forward to seeing the Beta version!

I really enjoy the short time I was with Moira, Mabel, Michael, Sasha, and other BaWers. I love that there is nothing to download :-) and it seems very easy to use :-)

Thanks for sharing this tools with all of us. I am looking forward to the final release!

hugs,

Daf

DimDim has some very good features and they will probably add many more in the next few months
I would like to go on exploring it!

Dim Dim is a great tool. It has great potential and is teacher friendly. I think that this open source tool will help teachers/moderators to host live sessions in a more dynamic away.
I sure want to use it! :)

I have had such tremendous fun trying out the DimDim tool! It's obvious that DimDim, though still in it's alpha version, is going to be a very useful application for all of us to explore together.
With nothing to download it was even possible to have a session with Moira and Mabel using my work computer. For me this was a first experience as my school doesn't allow installations of new applications without some hassle...;-)
I will eagerly follow the future versions of DimDim and I'm looking forward to being continously invited to join!

Kudos to you!

Having been at today’s Dimdim ‘playground’ I’d really recommend others to
try to get along to one of the sessions. Great fun! And interesting to
compare all these tools.

I found Dim Dim the simplest to use and it was fun being able to talk at the same time - it seemed more like natural communication. (But it was a bit disconcerting to find out that my microphone was automatically on and everyone had been listening to me eating my lunch!!)
I really want to try this out with some students - I think they'd love it.

Personally, I use Showdocument for online teaching and web conferencing. I'm not saying these programs aren't good,
But I think a web-based application is always better, since there's nothing to download or install.
try it at http://www.showdocument.com . -andy
